About MYTT

Founded in 2013, Mentoring Youth Through Technology (MYTT) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding equitable access to high-quality STEM education for youth, regardless of background or location. What began as an effort to close opportunity gaps has grown into a multi-state initiative serving students across Illinois, Indiana, and beyond.

MYTT believes STEM education is a pathway to economic mobility and lifelong success. Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and exposure to emerging technologies, we equip youth with technical skills, critical thinking, and confidence—empowering them to become creators, innovators, and future leaders in a technology-driven world.

Our Story

Mentoring Youth Through Technology (MYTT) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 2013 with a simple belief: a young person’s future should not be limited by their access to technology.

Our founder, Randle Carter, spent more than 25 years working in information technology with organizations ranging from the City of Chicago Department of Aviation to Fortune 500 companies and educational institutions. Along the way, he saw a growing demand for technical skills—and a troubling lack of access to STEM opportunities for many youth, especially those from underserved communities. Talent was everywhere, but opportunity was not.

MYTT was created to change that.

What began as a small effort to introduce youth to technology has grown into a multi-state organization serving students across Illinois, Indiana, and beyond. Today, MYTT supports youth ages 6–18 through hands-on STEM programs, school partnerships, and community-based learning experiences that grow with students over time.

At MYTT, we believe technology education is about more than learning tools. It’s about building confidence, curiosity, and the ability to solve real problems. Through mentorship and hands-on learning, we help young people see themselves as creators, leaders, and future professionals—ready to shape their own paths through technology.

Our Mission

Mentoring Youth Through Technology (MYTT) inspires, educates, and mentors youth ages 6–18 through hands-on STEM learning and meaningful relationships, helping them move from using technology to creating with it and preparing them for future opportunities.

Our Vision

A future where every young person, regardless of background, has access to STEM education, sees themselves as a creator and problem-solver, and has the tools to shape their own future through technology.

What Guides Our Work

We believe mentorship changes outcomes.
Through peer and professional mentorship, we help students build relationships that strengthen leadership, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

We create spaces where youth feel supported and capable.
MYTT builds learning environments where students are encouraged to ask questions, take risks, and grow with confidence in their abilities.

We expand access to real STEM opportunities.
We meet youth where they are—through schools, community partnerships, and our STEM Center—to ensure more students can explore technology in meaningful, hands-on ways.

We focus on learning by doing.
Our programs emphasize problem-solving, creativity, and real-world application so youth gain skills they can use beyond the classroom.
